Diversity Workshop: Leadership & Listening

Denver Church of Christ • May 14, 2022

"Leadership & Listening: Discover the art of drawing people out (even if they’re angry and hurt)."

Our impact and influence in our community, as leaders or aspiring leaders, is limited by how well we actively listen and “draw people out." Without these empathetic skills or knowledge to connect with anyone, we limit our influence in the world because empathy and listening is a Biblical virtue. However, if we embrace these empathetic skills, we will become more like Jesus, who was slow to speak and quick to listen — to the poor, the needy, those without a voice, and to the Father. In this workshop led by Greg Dillon, certified coach and trainer, we learn to lead by listening, just like Jesus, our King.

This workshop was offered on April 30 and sponsored by the Denver Church of Christ Diversity Committee.

Greg is a Senior Manager in Learning and Development at Randstad USA, where he provides leadership coaching and training for internal leadership staff. He also is an ICF certified coach and has his own Coaching and Training Company (Dillon Coaching & Training – www.dcandt.com), where he works with coaching clients regarding their careers, leadership, public speaking and general life-goal achievements. He has a Master’s degree in Training & Development from Leslie University in Cambridge, MA and over 28 years’ experience in leadership training & development, coaching and sales. Greg has also worked in Executive Education and Professional Education at Georgia Tech, as well as worked for two prominent management consulting and training firms in Massachusetts and Georgia. Before working in the business and academic world, Greg worked in the ministry for 8 years for churches in Colorado and Massachusetts and has spoken all over the country on various topics relating to career transitions, leadership, and adult learning/training.

Greg has been married to Kathryn (the love of his life) for 35-years and has 3 daughters, 2 son-in-laws and 2 granddaughters who all live in the Southeastern US.
